FREDONIA, N.Y. --
Katie Kleine (Cazenovia) netted six goals Saturday as Fredonia State returned home to defeat Rochester Institute of Technology, 17-10, and improve to 4-2 this season.
Kleine scored four times in the first half as the Blue Devils broke on top 10-7. They never trailed in the non-conference match, played on an unseasonably warm day for mid-March -- bright sun and temps in the high 60s.
Amy Simon (Amherst) added four goals and
Karli Brinthaupt (Horseheads) had two goals for the Blue Devils, who were playing their first game since returning from their Florida trip earlier this week.
Casey Chiesa (Baldwinsville) was credited with 13 saves. She also had a team-high eight groundballs, while Kleine was credited with seven.
Shelby Vakiener and Rebecca Lampson had three goals each for the Tigers (1-2).
The Blue Devils are back in action next Saturday at Adrian (Mich.)
