EDINBORO, Pa. -- Fredonia State senior
Broncho Rollins (Ithaca) finished first in the pole vault at the Al Hall Freedom Games at Edinboro University.
Rollins, an NCAA Division III participant last spring, cleared 15 feet.
In other events, junior Peter Francia (Rochester) led a trio of Blue Devil runners in the 3,000 meters. Francia finished third with a personal-best 8:47, good for both SUNYAC and ECAC qualifying. In addition,
Jack Bennett (LeRoy) and
Cal Hayward (Victor) ran SUNYAC qualifying times of 9:06 and 9:11, respectively.
In the mile, sophomore Steven Whittemore (Penfield) won his heat with a SUNYAC-qualifying time of 4:36. Two Blue Devil sprinters, sophomore
Alex Brennan and freshman Andrew Burrell (Canandaigua), had solid efforts in the 200 meters. Brennan was timed in 24.28 seconds and Burrell in a personal-best 24.36 seconds.
