FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State swept the two women's weekly awards and won one of the two men's awards in SUNYAC swimming and diving Monday.

For the second straight week, junior Sarah Ficarro has been named the SUNYAC Women's Diver of the Week. She won both springboard diving events in Fredonia State's dual meet win at Rochester Institute of Technology. Scored 249.45 points off the 1-meter board and 272.10 points off the 3-meter board. Her 3-meter score provisionally qualified her for the NCAA championships.

Elizabeth Schake, also a junior, played a key role in the Blue Devils' 217-82 dual meet win over RIT, thus was named SUNYAC Women's Swimming of the Week. Individually she won the 50-yard freestyle (:25.13) and the 100-yard freestyle (:55.84). Then she was also part of the winning 200-yard medley (1:56.95) and 200-yard freestyle relays (1:44.95).

On the men's side, senior John Rodman was named SUNYAC Men's Diver of the Week. He won the 3-meter springboard diving with 245.40 points at the Blue Devils' dual meet at RIT. It was his first win of the 2011-12 season.

Although he did not win the SUNYAC award, sophomore John Estanislau was the Fredonia State nominee for Men's Swimmer of the Week. He won three events at RIT and has won nine events in the last three meets.

The three awards in swimming and diving gave Fredonia State five this week. A women's soccer player and a women's volleyball player were also cited (see separate story).
