WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Fredonia State finished seventh of 10 teams Saturday during the SUNYAC women's cross country championship race.
The Blue Devils finished nine points behind sixth-place Brockport. That represented a wide improvement from when the teams met two weeks ago at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble.
"Brockport beat us by 100 points that day," head coach
Tom Wilson said. "The girls ran really well today."
Fredonia State was led by freshman Amanda Cochiarra, who was 27th overall in 24:17 Bowdoin Park 6,000-meter course.
The Blue Devils had their next six runners finish 40th through 49th.
The first of that pack was senior
Amanda Solly (40th; 25:15), junior
Kateri Walsh (41st; 25:34), freshman
Angela Richter (45th; 25:56); sophomore
Alissa Conti (47th; 26:05), sophomore
Kim Foltz (48th; 26:32); and junior
Chelsea Haag (49th; 26:35).
The Blue Devils finished with 200 total points. Seven women plus one alternate will travel to St. Lawrence for the Atlantic Regional meet Nov. 12.
