Gus Alvarez Jr. won the men's pole vault at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic outdoor track and field meet on April 27. Alvarez cleared a personal-best 4.85 meters -- 15 feet, 11 inches -- and moved to 10th on the NCAA Division III national qualifying list. He also moved to No. 3 on Fredonia's Top 10 outdoor pole vault list. His previous-best vault was 4.65 meters.
