Fredonia senior Merlin Joseph Jr. (Binghamton, N.Y.) finished fifth of 187 finishers Saturday at the Houghton Highlander Invitational men's cross country meet. Joseph toured Houghton's 8,000-meter Field of Dreams course in a personal-best 25:29.2, an average of 5:08 per mile, an improvement of 22 seconds over his previous PR.
