Caparro, a junior from Staten Island, N.Y, won one event and was second in another at the Houghton December Classic, the first meet of the 2016-17 indoor track and field season. He won the triple jump in 13.98 meters (45 feet, 10 1/2 inches), a new Kerr-Pegula Fieldhouse record, and was second in the high jump after clearing 1.95 meters (6 feet, 4 3/4 inches).
