A senior thrower from Hopewell Junction, N.Y., Desens broke the Fredonia school record in the outdoor shot put on April 4 at Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio, eclipsing the record held by her current coach Julia Williamson. Desens's throw of 13.20 meters bested current assistant coach Williamson's record of 12.94 meters set in 2009. It was also better than Desens's 13.01-meter throw a month ago that set Fredonia's indoor school record.
