Desens, a junior from Hopewell Junction, N.Y., was a double-winner at the Carnegie Mellon Mini-Invitational. Her winning shot put of 11.50 meters (37' 8.75") and winning discus throw of 38.84 meters (127' 5") set meet records. She was also third in the hammer throw (41.48 meters/136' 1"). Fredonia State was first in the team point standings out of five teams.
