Sarah Ficarro's impact in her sport was immediate. She was national runner-up in 1-meter springboard diving her freshman year. It was one of seven All-America awards she would garner. In short, she was one of the most consistent divers in the illustrious history of the sport at Fredonia State.
In addition to her seven national certificates, Sarah was named SUNYAC Female Diver of the Championship Meet three times. She was named Fredonia Female Athlete of the Year after her senior year and added a bevy of academic honors. She received the SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award as well as the 2011-12 SUNYAC Dr. Delores Bogard Award, given since 1983-84 to the top woman who displays the best combination of athletic and academic ability.
She possesses two Fredonia degrees: Bachelor of Communication Disorders and Sciences, and a Master of Science in Speech Pathology. She also minored in School and Counseling Psychology. She was a member of the National Society for Leadership and Success, the Golden Key International Honor Society, and the Communication Disorders Student Society.
At the time of her induction, she was residing in Cazenovia, N.Y., where she was a speech language pathologist for National Staffing Solutions.
