The following information was taken from the Hall of Fame program published at the time of induction. Some editing was required:
An outstanding three-sports performer in high school, Mary Bartkowski played two seasons of women's basketball at Fredonia State after transferring from Jamestown Community College. A two-year starter with the Blue Devils, Ms. Bartkowski averaged 10.2 points per game as a junior and was named Fredonia State's Agnes L. Michaels Award winner as Fredonia State's Female Athlete of the Year. As a senior, she led her team with 72 assists and 52 steals. That season she scored at an impressive 11.2 points-per-game clip while finishing among the State University of New York Athletic Conference's Top 5 in assists and three-point field-goal accuracy. A First Team All-SUNYAC performer as a senior, she repeated as the winner of the Michaels Award winner. A 1989 Fredonia State graduate with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education/Math, she added a master's in Curriculum and Instruction and was working as a teacher and coach at Maple Grove Junior and Senior High School in Bemus Point, N.Y,, at the time of her induction. Her 1995-96 team -- the season prior to her induction -- posted an 18-5 record and resulted in Ms. Bartkowski being named coach of the year in her division.
