Perhaps the best point guard to ever play at Fredonia State, John Fischetti was a four-year starter during one of the most successful periods in Blue Devil men's basketball history. A two-time most valuable player (1986-87 and 1987-88) and four-year letterman, Mr. Fischetti quarterbacked to the 1984–85 team that won the school's first-ever post season tournament championship. In addition to winning an Upstate Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference title that year, Mr. Fischetti and his teammates set a school record for wins with 16. A team captain (1987-88) and All SUNYAC performer (First Team 1987-88), he held both the school assist (782) and single-season (225) assist records at the time of his induction. Among a host of other accomplishments, he is a member of the school's 1,000 point club, with 1,252 points. That was ranked fourth at the time of his induction. Holding of a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Mr. Fischetti was working as an insurance investigator for J.L. Danton Associates in Rockville Centre, N.Y., at the time of his induction.
