The following information was taken from the Hall of Fame program published at the time of induction. Some editing was required:

A two-year track and field standout, Fred Ruterbusch broke the college's javelin record by some 31 feet (212') in his first season of competition. That year he also placed fist in this event in the SUNYAC championship meet and finished second in the state meet. A fifth-place finish at nationals earned Mr. Ruterbusch All-America honors (the first Blue Devil track & field athlete to receive All-America recognition). During the 1977 season, he set a school indoor shot put record with a put of 47 feet, 9 1/2 inches. In the javelin, he set a school record of 218 feet, 2 inches. After graduation in 1978, Mr. Ruterbusch continued javelin competition and was a gold medal winner at the Empire State Games. He received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and was a supervisor at the Eastman Kodak Company at the time of his induction in 1989.
