The following description appeared in the Hall of Fame program at the time of induction:
Doug Florkowski is the second-highest scoring defenseman in Fredonia State history. In four seasons, he accumulated 92 points -- second only to fellow 2004 Hall of Fame inductee Jim Pinti among defenseman and 13th all-time among all Blue Devils. Florkowski's 75 assists are seventh all-time at Fredonia State. As a senior, he led all SUNYAC defensemen in scoring and was chosen First Team All SUNYAC. He was also selected to play in the Eastern College Division III All-Star Game.
He was a member of the 1992 team which won Fredonia State's first SUNYAC Tournament game and received its first ECAC playoff berth. He was also an integral member of the 1993-94 and 1994-95 teams which won back-to-back SUNYAC titles. Those two teams had a combined record of 54-6-8. The 1993-94 team was third nationally, while the 1994-95 team was second. Florkowski was team captain his senior year which ended with a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Middlebury College in the national title game.
Florkowski earned two degrees from Fredonia State: a Bachelor's of Science in Speech and Hearing Handicap Education, and a Master's of Science in Speech Pathology. He is employed as executive director of ancillary services for Crittenden Health Systems. He and his wife, Angie, reside in Morganfield, Ky., with their two sets of twins: 4-year olds Carson and Landon, and soon-to-be 2-year-olds Garrett and Ella.
