The following information was taken from the Hall of Fame program published at the time of induction. Some editing was required:
Winner of seven varsity letters in track and cross country at Fredonia State, Don Brenner achieved All-America status at the NCAA Cross County finals in 1980. That year, Mr. Brenner took top honors at the SUNYAC Cross Country championships and was winner of the 5,000 meter run at the New York State Collegiate Track & Field meet. Mr. Brenner was captain of the 1981 FSU cross country team that finished third nationally. His senior year, he was selected to receive the Dr. Sam Molnar Award as the SUNYAC's top student-athlete. That same year, he was also honored as the Joseph Keyser Award winner as Fredonia's outstanding senior athlete. In 1982, Mr. Brenner earned a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry and later earned a Ph.D. from Penn State University in 1987. At the time of his induction, he was a staff scientist the The Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C.
