One of the best players ever to don a Blue Devil baseball uniform, Donald Rankie held records for most career home runs (20) and total bases in a single season (79 in 1983-84). In addition to being an outstanding hitter, Mr. Rankie excelled defensively and was named First Team All SUNYAC at third base. During his four-year collegiate career, the baseball team compiled an impressive 109-55-2 record. The 31-11-1 tally achieved during the 1981-82 season set a school record. For his exceptional play as a senior, Mr. Rankie was honored as the 1983-84 Joseph Keyser Senior Athlete of the Year. He graduated in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and was working as a computer software specialist for Sorrento Food Service in Buffalo, N.Y., at the time of his induction.
