A four-year starter as a pitcher and third baseman, Chan Galbato was described by Dale Till, baseball's head coach for the past 20 years, as "one of the most dedicated, hardworking players to ever wear a Blue Devil uniform." Shortly after graduation in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in Economics, Mr. Galbato was crafted by the Montreal Expos and assigned to his hometown Jamestown Expos of the Class A New York-Penn League. He played professionally for two years. During his four seasons at Fredonia State, Mr. Galbato was on teams that posted a record of 110-59-3. His career batting average was an impressive .365. As captain and most valuable player of the 1984-85 team, he set single-season school records in doubles (12), assists (76), walks (40), hits (55), and total bases (85). His prowess on the diamond earned him First Team All SUNYAC honors in 1984-85. Holder of a masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago, which he received in 1992, Mr. Galbato was working as general manager of service marketing for General Electric Medical Systems in Milwaukee, Wis., at the time of his induction.
