The following information was taken from the Hall of Fame program published at the time of induction. Some editing was required:
Bruce Heacock was a member of the Inaugural Class inducted into the Fredonia State Athletics Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held Sat., Sept. 27, 1986, at the Topiary Tree in the Campus Center.
A 1957 Music Education graduate, Mr. Heacock was instrumental in getting men's tennis started at Fredonia State as an intercollegiate sport in 1951. He played first singles for the Blue Devils for four years and was consistently ranked among the best in Western New York. He advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Air Force World Championships in 1956 and represented Fredonia at the Eastern Intercollegiate Championships at West Point, N.Y. upon his return to school in 1957. He lost only one in-season match during his varsity career.
At the time of his induction, Mr. Heacock was serving as a teacher and coach at Medina (N.Y.) Central School with four league titles and one Section VI championship to his credit.
