The following information was taken from the Hall of Fame program published at the time of induction. Some editing was required:

Agnes I. Michaels was a member of the Inaugural Class inducted into the Fredonia State Athletics Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held Sat., Sept. 27, 1986, at the Topiary Tree in the Campus Center.

Ms. Michaels joined the staff at SUNY College Fredonia in 1948 and served for 25 years. She was director of women's sports programs on campus. She started the Women's Athletic Association, which encompassed intramurals, extramurals (sports days), dance, and synchronized swimming productions.

A 1936 graduate of SUNY Cortland, Ms. Michaels earned a master's degree from New York University (1948) and a doctorate in Education from University at Buffalo (1954). She served as an American Red Cross club director and program director in Indo-China during World War II. She was elected to Who's Who of American Women in 1972-73 and Who's Who in the East in 1974-75.
