1994-95 Mens Hockey / Team of Distinction — Just as they were recognized together at the 2014 Fredonia State Hall of Fame induction dinner, the 1993-94 and 1994-95 Men’s Hockey teams were inducted jointly as Teams of Distinction four years later at the 2018 ceremony.

The back-to-back seasons marked Fredonia State hockey’s inclusion into the national hockey scene. The 1993-93 team won the program’s first SUNYAC championship and berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament. A first-round win over Rochester Institute of Technology preceded a loss to Wisconsin-River Falls in the national semifinal. The Blue Devils then defeated Salem State in the national consolation game to finish 29-1-4, the best won-loss record in program history.

The 1994-95 season included another SUNYAC title and NCAA wins over Salem State and Wisconsin-Superior, which set up a meeting with host Middlebury College for the national title. The Blue Devils fell 1-0 to complete a 25-5-4 season as Division III runners-up, the best national standing in program history.

Players in the Hall of Fame from this era of Fredonia State hockey are Craig Conley, Doug Florkowski, Jeff Lupu, Jim Pinti, and Eric Preston.
