The squads were the SUNYAC Champions for both Indoor and Outdoor for the 1984 and the 1985 seasons. The 1984 outdoor squad boasted five individual All Americans and one relay team. The 1985 team had four individuals recognized during the Indoor season, and two during Outdoor.

The 1984 team won Indoor States by a wide margin, scoring 129 points compared to 52 by second-place Buffalo State.  Outdoor saw them score 133 points to runner-up Ithaca's 83, while finishing seventh at Nationals. The 1985 team basically duplicated that season, and finished fourth at nationals. Kym Orr won a National Title in the high jump during the Indoor season. Seven members of those teams are current Fredonia State Hall of Famers, and Orr still holds the NCAA Division 3 record in the high jump at 7'4.25''.
